privacy and confidentiality
- All client’s personal information, notes made and everything said during the therapy session will be respected and kept private. All records of client’s personally identifiable and sensitive information will be kept in a secure location and protected from unauthorised intrusion or disclosure.
- Client’s information will never be shared or sent to someone else unless a client has given their consent for this information to be shared. The only exception to this will be when required by law, in the event a client is at serious risk of harm to self or others. I would then have an ethical responsibility to balance your confidentiality with the communication necessary to keep you safe and others safe.
- As a BACP registered counsellor and professional practitioner, I am required to have regular supervision with a more experienced counselling supervisor for best practice. It is necessary for client’s to be aware they will need to consent to me sharing my counselling work with a supervisor for good standards of care.
